Today, we honour the incredible resilience of those forced to flee their homes because of relentless conflict and persecution. We recognize their strength, courage, and unwavering determination to rebuild lives shattered by violence — all while holding onto a simple, profound hope: to live in peace.

But honour alone is not enough.

The situation along the Thai-Burma border is dire: children under five receive only 5 cents a day for food, and people over five receive just 8 cents a day. Even before these reductions, rations were already below the minimum needed for survival. Humanitarian support has been significantly reduced, leaving refugees increasingly vulnerable.

Yet despite these hardships, refugees remain determined to work and rebuild their lives. Every person forced to remain in these camps deserves to live free from hunger and with dignity—basic human rights that are currently being denied.

They want to live peacefully and provide for their families. Now, more than ever, they need our solidarity.
