Capacity Building Manager (CBM) - Reporting

KHRG is seeking a Capacity Building Manager (CBM) to support its Information Processing and Report-writing Team (IPRT).  The ideal candidate would be able to begin in June 2019, and would be interested in a 24 month commitment to the organisation. This position is based in Thailand. Due to the high volume of applications received, only short-listed candidates will receive a response. 

Research Fellow

Deadline: 1st May 2019 

The Karen Human Rights Group is looking for a Research Fellow for a six-month period, ideally beginning in July 2019. This position is based in Thailand.

The Research Fellow will support KHRG’s Information Processing and Report-Writing Team, which processes human rights documentation received from the field. At the moment, KHRG is receiving reports on the following human rights issues: land confiscation and displacement; militarisation and sporadic clashes between armed groups; landmines; forced labour; gender-based violence; and access to health and education.

The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to develop research and advocacy skills by assisting with our human rights reporting work, including the development of our thematic report on peace and justice.

A willingness to be guided by locally defined perspectives and priorities at all times is essential. KHRG operates on a consensus basis and places a strong emphasis on teamwork. Applicants with an interest in expanding their understanding of human rights issues in Burma/Myanmar, especially those interested in challenging traditional conceptions of human rights, should find the position particularly attractive.
